Managing Your Blog
There are a number of ways to post a message to your blog. You must
be logged in to post a message. Once you are logged in, either go directly
to your blog url (http://(blogsite).blogstream.com) and click on the "Post"
link near the top of your blog page, or click on the "My Account" icon
near the top of the website and then the "Post" link next to the blog
you wish to post to.
Once you are logged in, view your blog. Locate the blog post you wish to
edit or delete. On the bottom of the post, you should see a "edit" and
"delete" link.
At this time, blog posts are never deleted unless you specifically delete
them. As you add new blog posts, the old ones are "pushed down". Currently
blog pages show up to 5 posts per page. Older blog posts are shown on
subsequent pages which can be selected at the bottom of the blog.
There are also "archive" links created monthly on the right side of your
blog page. Currently this is automatic.
You can change your blog Title or URL, as well as other settings in the
"Blog Settings" area. After logging in, go to "My Account" and
click on "Settings" next
to your blog name, or click on the Blog Settings link in the top bar
when viewing your blog.
As a user on Blogstream you have settings associated with your account.
There are also separate settings for your blog. To get to your blog settings
either visit the blog page and click on the "Settings" option in the top left
(you must be on your blog, and logged in), or go to "My Account" and click
on the Settings option next to your blog name.
You can change various things such as:
About - What your blog is about
Category - What category your blog falls in. This helps people locate your blog
Email Notification - By default, we email you whenever someone posts a comment on your blog. You can turn this option on or off.
Active? - You can temporarily deactivate your blog from being displayed at your URL by choosing this option.
If you need to turn off your blog you can do so in the Blog Settings area (see above).
Please make sure you are typing your blog URL correctly. It should be
in the format:
http://(blog name).blogstream.com
Please note that there is NO www before the URL. If you type
www it will not work and you will get an error.
Currently there is no way to change the look & feel of your blog page. It
is planned (and we are actually working on it), however we are waiting until
we have added all of the main features we want and everything is stable.
We have been adding new features every few days, and it would be too hard
to support custom blog pages when things are changing so often.
You can link to other sites or services in your blog posts through normal
discussion, but you cannot "sell" ads or sponsorships, or place banner
ads on your blog.
Comments are not located on the main blog post, they are on a special
comment page for each post. If you read your main blog, look underneath
each message and it will say something like "No Comments" or "3 Comments".
Click on that link and it will take you to that posts full page where
you can read the comments.
If you have the feature turned on to receive comments via email (turned
on by default -- this option is available in the Settings page for your
blog), you will receive a link that will take you directly to the comment
page.
