Press Release: Band Together Forms To Help Connecticut Families One At A Time February 1, 2006 Local musicians Rob Fried and Jerry Vigorito have formed a charity music organization called “Band Together” and have arranged a concert series to “help Connecticut families one at a time”. Their first event will occur on Saturday, March 25th at the Norfield Grange in Weston with all of the proceeds from ticket sales going to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County. Specifically, the funds from this concert will go toward the completion of Habitat’s Youth United House in Bridgeport. This house was built entirely by youth with funds raised by youth. With the help of this concert, they will pay off the remaining debts on the house and clear the way to begin the Youth United House #2. The March 25th concert will feature and evening of blues, jazz and gospel with Georgia Louis, Chris Coogan, Rob Fried, Jerry Vigorito and The Bone Dry Band. Georgia Louis is a famed gospel and blues singer who has performed with B.B. King. Chris Coogan is a pianist and vocalist with jazz and gospel influences, who directs the Good News Gospel Choir. Rob Fried (bass/vocals) and Jerry Vigorito (harmonica/percussion) will perform with their acoustic rock and blues band Bone Dry. Bone Dry has opened for national acts such as B.B. King and the Fabulous Thunderbirds. Tickets are $20 and are available by contacting Jerry Vigorito (203-227-7100, jerryvig@atlanticnational.net) or Rob Fried (203-938-0847, refried@optonline.net). The Northfield Grange is located at 12 Good Hill Road in Weston. For the past two years Mr. Fried and Vigorito have performed to raise money to preserve Connecticut farmland at an annual event hosted by Meryl Streep. Mr. Fried has also performed at various fund raising events in his home town of Redding. In discussing the meaningfulness of these performances to their lives, Fried and Vigorito realized they had three goals in common: 1) to make and enjoy music, 2) to use their talent and influence to help people in need and 3) to get one step closer to heaven. Band Together’s vision is to create great musical events at great venues that are a lot of fun to attend and help unite the community of fabulous musicians in the area with people and organizations interested in channeling the funds raised to specific families that are temporarily in need.
